Clifton-Upon-Dunsmore WI meetings

What’s On at Townsend Memorial Hall

Townsend Memorial Hall is home to a wide range of groups, classes, and regular activities serving the local community. From fitness sessions and hobby groups to meetings and social events, the hall is a busy and welcoming space throughout the week. Many of our groups are open to new members and offer something for all ages and interests. If you’re looking to get involved locally, there’s plenty to choose from. If you’re interested in starting a new group or activity, please get in touch to discuss availability.

Clifton Garden Club is responsible for the planting of winter and summer flowers in the large tubs outside the Clifton shops. Flowers are donated by garden club members.

They also maintain the Millennium Garden on the corner of Main Street and South Road.

Time: Clifton Garden Club meets on the third Thursday of each month upstairs in the Townsend Memorial Hall, Clifton upon Dunsmore at 7.30pm. Refreshments are provided after meetings. 

Cost: From time to time visiting speakers bring plants for sale. Subscriptions are £10 per year for membership and £3 per meeting for visitors. Each member receives a membership card listing club activities.

Meeting on the first Thursday of every month, the history group invites a wide variety of interesting speakers to hold talks on all sorts of subjects. 

The group also helps with research into local history and provides assistance to others researching family history, reporting the outcome of enquires.

Time: 2nd Thursday of the month at the Townend Memorial Hall Clifton upon Dunsmore at 7.30pm.

Cost: TBC

art group in RugbyThis small friendly group caters for artists of all abilities, meeting on Mondays in the Townsend Memorial Hall. 

There is always help on hand to give advice on any painting matters or medium, and there is a break for refreshments and a chat.

From time to time specific themes are undertaken and also the work of members exhibited locally and farther afield.

Time: 1-3.00pm.

santa's grottoThe events group was set up to organise activities in the village. 

The group is always looking for new members to help set up and run events such as Christmas windows, Santa’s grotto, treasure hunts, social events, fetes etc. 

Time: Usually monthly meetings in The Bull – date and time subject to change.

conservation groupThe aim of the group is to promote to the biodiversity of the parish both now and in the future.  

They encourage local people to get involved with voluntary ‘hands-on’ work parties and activities on the sites. The aim is to engage with the Parish community to improve or conserve aspects of the village.

Time- 10am, the first Saturday of the month.

Cost: Free

monday yoga in RugbyHeld each Monday evening. This is a Hatha Yoga class consisting of an hour and a half of gentle exercise with breathing techniques and relaxation periods. 

Run by an experienced teacher with a small friendly class.

A blend of various dance forms like Kathak, Odissi, Garba, Lavni to name a few. A great way to escape from stress and stay fit. 

For all ages, children up to 13yrs go free with a paying adult.

Time: Wednesdays at 6pm.

Gemma Murphy Yoga‘Feel Good Friday Yoga’ with Gemma Murphy, British Wheel of Yoga Teacher.

Yoga classes focus on developing strength and comfort in the body, flowing through postures while staying connected to your breath. Beginners welcome. 

Time: 9.15-10.15am on Fridays.
